The wraparound GRP inner frame is precisely tailored to the Mercedes Sprinter 906/907 configuration (length 5932 mm/wheelbase 3924) with the side fender flares we offer.
For installation, the sheet metal cutout should be made to the maximum size, within the boundaries of the relevant vehicle reinforcements. The cutout corresponds to the original Mercedes Sprinter cutout if the vehicle has factory-installed side windows.

The inner frame is positioned beneath the interior trim panel and is secured there invisibly from the rear with screws and adhesive. Before applying felt to the inner frame and the trim panel, it is recommended to cut out the trim panel accordingly and adapt the cutout to the inner contour of the inner frame. For example, using a router with a shank cutter and a guide ring.

Furthermore, it may be advisable (depending on the specific application and project) to install an insulator (e.g., 10 or 20 mm) at the base of the widening. The 20-mm dimension corresponds to the inner contour of the frame, minus the felt and a small shadow gap. It is now also recommended to install the insulation to fit the inner frame.
To ensure that the inner frame is screwed and glued in place cleanly and does not “bulge out” too much, the inner frame should only be covered with felt minimally in the installation area, extending just into the contact zone with the trim panel. The same applies to the area of the cutout in the trim panel. Screwing and gluing require clean, bare surfaces made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) and wood.

The felted insulation is then glued to the bottom of the extension/cross member at the end, thereby closing the minimal gap between the inner frame and the extension. The resulting shadow gap ensures a clean appearance.
