Reinforced gas springs for the tailgate of the Ford Transit Custom / Tourneo Custom of the V710 (NRN/NXN) series and VW T7 - New Transporter
Can only be used in combination with the retaining kit: item no. TA-F1-302-HS
Note: If the payload changes, the installed gas springs should be replaced by gas springs with an adapted extension force. If the gas springs exceed 600 N, it is no longer possible to use the unloaded tailgate after the conversion. In this case, gas springs with reduced gas force should be installed.
Maximum total mass of the rear carrier with body: 70 kg
We can adjust the gas springs at our factory in steps of 50 Newtons up to a maximum of 1100 Newtons.
Due to the modified pivot points of our mounting kits, the values of the extension force can be compared with the values of the original gas springs as follows:
The resulting force for lifting is 45% greater than with the original system.
Example: An original gas spring with 870 N corresponds to a TERRANGER gas spring with 600 N. Conversely, a TERRANGER gas spring with 900 N would have to be replaced by an original gas spring with 1300 N. This example is only intended to illustrate the advantages of the system. Below is a table for selecting the gas spring.
The specified values only apply to our TA-F1-302-GF gas springs with our TA-F1-302-HS mounting kit. As the required extension force - in addition to the loaded weight - also depends on the position of the load on the tailgate and the outside temperature, the optimum extension force should be determined by means of an installation test. The values listed serve as a guide.
We deliberately limit the maximum extension force of our gas spring in combination with our reinforced bracket set to 1100 Newtons. This means that the load on the hinges of the tailgate is no higher than in the original condition with the strongest gas springs available from Ford.
The gas springs are not suitable for the VW New Multivan and New California!

*The upper value is the theoretical (calculated) value. The lower value is the value recommended by us, which you should select when ordering. **The maximum load on the tailgate is 70 kg!
