Widening jaws / ears / longsleepers are the ideal solution for saving space through oversleeping.

Many tall VAN drivers know the problem. The advantages of a compact van are at the expense of the lying surface length in the rear of the vehicle.
The solution is "cross sleeping". For this purpose, the GFK widening jaws were also called ears for mounting on the rear side panels, the driver and / or passenger side, developed.
This ensures a great sense of space in the rear! With transverse bed plans, the "XL customers" finally get enough length for a relaxed sleep. The possible cut-out of 547mm x 1295mm and the max. Depth of 100mm allow a large margin for the insulation, the panel and help enormously with the optimal use of space.
Optically, the "jaw" also does not need to hide. The assembly is possible right and left. In the direction of travel right only with a corresponding doorstop (also available on request).
Important: Fixing is done by an inwardly bent adhesive and mounting shoulder on the side panel. Thus, the installation is invisible! The GRP attachment is attached with 1K PU adhesive and 12 M6 screws. This allows maximum flexibility in the choice of the actual sheet metal cutout. Just stay in the area of the maximum cut-out (1295 x 547) and take into account your layout or the furniture construction.
Depending on the country relevant: The widenings are delivered with a "fragmentation report". The report of the TÜV Rheinland is assigned to the GRP structure and not linked to a special vehicle. The bed widening is delivered with detailed papers and a sample report for obtaining the operating permit. Thus, the registration is done at the TÜV without any problems!
The GRP attachment can even be mounted by private customers with manual skill.
The assembly is supported with the CNC-drilled mounting template. The mounting template is part of the elaborate wooden packaging.
In most cases, a vertical strut in the cutout area must be removed. The strut is only slightly dotted and glued to the outer panel. A disassembly is done without hesitation and without problems! Here is a side window in the series extensions of many manufacturers.
Transfer the cutout and holes from the template to the vehicle, then drill fixation holes and insert the cutout you have defined. For the X250 / 290 Ducato, the mounting holes are all within the range of chassis reinforcements. Depending on the mounting position, aluminum strips (20mm x 2mm) should be placed on the inside of the Sprinter and Co. for reinforcement.
Place the widening over the inside and thus invisible adhesive or mounting shoulder, tighten the twelve M6 fixing screws, remove excess adhesive and the assembly is done.
The insulation should be done with 10mm extreme insulator. The paneling is done individually in the interior design of the vehicle. Here suede has proven itself.
The longsleepers are available ready for installation in gelcoat pure white (RAL 9010). The glossy visible gelcoat is UV-stable and can be repolished at any time. A painting on the gelcoat is also possible. Ask the painter of your choice.
